This ornament is handmade, by Sue Kouma Johnson, from 2 prints of her pencil drawing of St Bernadette, placed back to back. She then cut glass to cover both sides, and solder the edges with lead free solder. Approximately 1 1/2" x 2", it is a striking piece, which you may place in a tiny easel at bedside, or hang with a ribbon from the rear view mirror of your car.

The Blessed Mother appeared to little Bernadette of Lourdes in 1858 in France and told her to dig in the dirt and drink some of the water she found. From small beginnings, a marvelous healing spring has drawn millions over the years to be cured of physical and spiritual ailments. Saint Bernadette herself was an amazingly humble servant of God, never healed of her own physical ailments. She almost died numerous times before finally passing into glory at the age of thirty five.

Mother Mary told her, "I cannot promise you happiness in this world, but in the next." Bernadette's own infirmities and great holiness caused her to be much loved as an attendant to the sick in the hospital connected with her convent.

Saint Bernadette is a wonderful saint, one of our favorites, and the patroness of alcoholics, poor people, asthmatics, and the sick, to name a few. We can't help but think she would be a great friend of nurses, as she was such an empathetic and kind nurse.

This is a great confirmation gift for a young lady taking her name.

The same image is on both sides.

All of our pendants and ornaments are made with lead free solder and glass. Great on a chain or bracelet. We offer a ball chain elsewhere in our shop.

If you put the charm/medal on a key chain, it may get broken if not treated kindly. It is glass. If you want one for a key chain, we can custom make your medium charm/medal with a thicker glass for $3. Small charm/medals don't need thicker glass, but either way, they need to be on a chain before you add them to your key ring.
