Our friend Thérèse has the sweetest expression in this picture! It's the Monday after Easter, April 15th, 1895. Thérèse seems calm, completely tranquil. In the larger picture from which this is taken, Thérèse is with the novices whom she is in charge of, as well as her sisters Pauline and Céline. They are in the inner courtyard at the convent in Lisieux. Céline has taken this photograph. We suspect she has also placed the hour glass prop in Therese's hands.
We have restored this photo to a vividness that we hope lets you connect with the Saint. The photo from which this is cropped is known in the archives as #20, which we have also restored and made available elsewhere in our shop. We hope you find, like we do, that these vivid restorations allow an intimacy that was not previously available with the older photos.
We print it on special art paper with archival quality pigments, rated to last for many generations without fading when kept out of the direct sun.
