I painted the original with acrylics and colored pencils. The medal is a detail of that painting, which portrays Saint Perpetua, who died in the Colosseum with her disciple Saint Felicity in the 3rd Century AD. They both had to give away their babies before being fed to the wild animals in their total surrender to Christ. The palm branch in the background symbolizes martyrdom.

It is said that when the crowd observed the two young mothers clinging to each other in the Colosseum as the wild beasts approached, many were moved to tears of sorrow.

The writings of St Perpetua have been preserved over the centuries, and there is a new movie out about her life.

The same image is on both sides. Please choose small, medium, or large size.

All of our pendants are made with lead free solder and glass. Great on a chain or bracelet. We offer a ball chain for elsewhere in my shop.

If you put the charm/medal on a key chain, it may get broken if not treated kindly. It is glass. If you want one for a key chain, We can custom make your medium charm/medal with a thicker glass for $2. Small charm/medals don't need thicker glass, but either way, they need to be on a chain before you add them to your key ring.

Jewelry orders are sent gift wrapped as shown, and Sue will include a holy card of her drawing of Pope Francis!
