We are enamored with this print. It was a design for a sanctuary lamp for the St. Hildegard's Abbey in the upper Danube Valley, Beuron, Germany.
It is beautiful and subtly Catholic. An intriguing image -- an objet d'art. The gold color adds warmth to its formal qualities. it would look perfect on a lot of walls, especially with wood or wainscoting. It would look great in a lot of dens or offices. It is, of course, a nice gift for a priest.
This was done for an expansion the Abbey in the early years of the 20th Century. The October 1907 date in the lower right hand corner we believe was a document control mark used so the goldsmiths could make sure they had the most recent drawing.
Like many of our prints, we are the only source offering this in the world.
** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.
