Now that research is faster, we have found out that, yes, it was by Sister Teresa from that Carmel, and that she did a lot of other beautiful paintings, of which we hope to offer you more, as they also make us happy.   \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eAccording to the Carmel's biography of Sister Theresa they sent out in an exhibition of her art in 1990, she was born in Aichi Prefecture in the Nagoya diocese. She is the youngest of four children. The family eventually moved to Tokyo, where the future artist-nun entered the Futaba School run by the Sisters of St. Maur. She entered the Carmel at age 21. Since she was 13, she had been painting with watercolors and was self-taught. She was formally taught how to do devotional art while a sister at the Carmel, and became famous at it. The Carmel is still there. The original 1964 silk painting by her is in the public domain, as it was historically published and distributed as an unregistered devotional card without copyright. There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5\" wide for 5x7, 1.3\" for 8.5x11, 1.6\" for 11x14, and 1.75\" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5\" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.
