This prayer came from a book he wrote at about age 20, which you can find online, often called Washington's Prayers.  One of the best proof's of Washington's high moral character can be seen in his voluntarily leaving the Presidency after two terms, when many lesser men would have stayed as dictator for life. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eWe smoothed some of the archaic language out of the prayer but left in all of the essentials. We think it's a beautiful morning offering, and we like how you can feel the Americanness in it with the talk of freedom and liberty.
