Let us honor our Mother! This lovely Immaculate Heart from the 19th Century is the Marian companion piece to “Source of Grace,” which has the doves with Jesus’s Sacred Heart. Both were printed by L. Turgis, a French lithographer active in Paris and New York in the late 1800s.
The Victorians loved symbols. Doves were one of their favorites. There are many doves on 19th century holy cards, especially among the French. These two by Turgis are two of our absolute favorites. We find them both graceful and charming.
Both are restored in our shop. We removed the stains and discolorations and some of the printing errors, while at the same time preserving the feel of the paper texture. We were also able to keep that chunky litho printing look, which we think looks great. We wanted to retain that original charm and make this a pleasing restoration of a delightful old Catholic image.
Any wood or gold frame might work well with these prints. We recommend a narrow frame, not too thick. All our prints are a standard size, so you should have lots of good choices at your local Hobby Lobby or online.
The companion piece, Sacred Heart Source of Grace, is here on Etsy at https://www.etsy.com/listing/666761646/vintage-sacred-heart-of-jesus-with-doves
Standard size. If you would like us to frame it for you, please select a frame above.
– 8.5 x 11" acid-free paper
– Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
– Cardboard backer
– Above story of the art
– Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
** IMPORTANT ** There is about an inch-and-a-third of white space around the picture, so the image is smaller than the paper.
Thanks for your interest!
Thanks!
