Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati is very popular as a patron saint for the young. He loved nature, mountain-climbing, and having a good time with his friends, but also had a very tender heart for the poor. Living in Italy in the early part of the twentieth century, he spent much of his time caring for the sick and poor, and eventually caught one of their diseases and died at age 24.
