A few years ago, a friend asked me to do a portrait of St Catherine for her daughter's confirmation. When I finished that, she asked me to go ahead and do one for another daughter. I had so much fun, I decided to do some more saints and take them to a show. That was the beginning of what became my Catholic art career.
I have been drawing and painting all my life, and I knew in second grade that I wanted to be an artist. I studied art in college, getting a BFA, and worked with numerous shows and galleries and did many Catholic paintings.
However, family life came first. My husband, John, and I are the proud parents of a son and four daughters and that has always been my top priority. But as they've grown older and more independent, I have given more and more time to my calling as a Catholic artist.
I believe that we are all called to bring Christ to the world in whatever our place is in life. I am an artist who loves the saints and everything about my faith, so it's only natural that I want to share that through my art. I know there are lots of beautiful images available from classical art, but I believe God is always doing something new! Every artist has his or her own way to express timeless truths in a beautiful way.
I sincerely appreciate every one who has supported me in this endeavor, and I hope these works help your faith.
