"In the heart of the Church I will be love!" -St Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face
This painting was done with reference to a photo of a fairly recent saint, well-loved by many in the Catholic Church, St. Theresa of Lisieux, or "The Little Flower." She lived and died at the end of the nineteenth century as a girl, really. She was only 24 when she died, as a Carmelite nun. During her last illness she was ordered to write her story, which she called The Story of a Soul. It spells out her simple spirituality, the way of littleness, or spiritual childhood. That is why I like to portray her as a child.
The colors of this giclee print are rich and beautiful, printed on canvas so it has the look of an original, and done with archival pigments that should last 200 years (if kept out of direct sun). It comes firmly adhered to a sturdy, acid-free mat board backing, ready for framing. Unframed. If you want it framed, please choose that option at right.
