FAQ
Digital Images for Publishing
We are very selective about who receives a digital copy of our work. Unfortunately, many people are careless with image files, and once an image appears on even a single website, it can quickly spread across the internet with little hope of full retrieval or control.
That said, we do sometimes grant permission for our images to be used in published projects. We are happy to work with book publishers and independent authors on a case-by-case basis.
Our general approach includes:
- Small print runs of pamphlets, cards, or similar materials that are unlikely to appear online.
- Book covers and internal illustrations, provided that any cover featuring our image is shown as a photograph of the physical book rather than the raw digital file we supplied.
- For book publishers, we offer a reduced licensing fee when the publisher agrees to include a permanent link back to our website on their online catalog page for as long as the book remains in their catalog.
Each request is reviewed individually. We evaluate the size of the print run, distribution method, and steps taken to protect the digital integrity of the artwork. Our goal is to support quality publishing projects while protecting our work from uncontrolled digital distribution.
