"Learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." That's the translation from the Latin in the mandorla around Jesus in this vintage German holy card,"Discite a me quia mitis sum et humilis corde et invenietis requiem animabus vestris," (Mathew 11:29). This is the resurrected Jesus, the welcoming Jesus.

Kühlen and Gladbach were German artists active in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. This is our favorite of their work, although they do have a Mary we also love. The phrase at the bottom of the picture "Cum approb. eccl." means "with the approval of the Church," i.e., the printer sought an imprimatur for their holy cards. This out-of-copyright holy card was in pretty good shape despite being over a hundred years old and only took an afternoon of restoration.

Archival quality: This print is with archival pigments on acid-free archival paper, rated to last for generations when not hung in direct sunlight. Beautiful today and a time-capsule of the faith for the future.

** IMPORTANT ** IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER!! There is a white border around the image. About 0.5" for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11", 1.6" for 11x14". Our prints have a finished look when framed without a matt.

- Acid-free fine art paper.
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
