Although in pictures he is often shown in red, the original Infant of Prague statue is normally dressed in green in his home church, Our Lady of Victory in Prague. That’s because green is the color of vestments in normal, Ordinary Times. They change vestments on the statue the way priests change theirs, who represent Christ.
On the back is the prayer many Catholics say when they are asking for special help, as we have been saying at Mass in our home parish, St Mary’s in Lincoln. It is an old, downtown church which needs a lot of money to be restored, and we all kneel at the end of Sunday Mass and pray it as a congregation. This card was done by our favorite holy card maker, Bouasse-Lebel of Paris, in we think about 1880.
You can say this prayer for your own needs too. It's important to know that it isn't a sin to pray for your material needs. God is our Father, and we need to come to him. The Infant of Prague represents his young, materially vulnerale stage. We too are materially vulnerable.
