Madonna with Child - Waldesruh
by Joseph von Führich

As a boy, Joseph von Führich loved rustic wayside shrines and chapels which had in them pictures from the Bible and of the Saints. As an adult, he became a painter and eventually a professor of paining. He was of the Nazarene School, a movement in the early 19th Century to make art more religious, more biblical, and to move away from the superficial genius that marked art since the Renaissance. (That is a view we share, which is why we offer very little Renaissance art in our shop.)

In this lovely Madonna with Child, (in German, Waldesruh), we have a replica of a roadside shrine, with the angels hanging a woodland backdrop to an already woodland setting, giving Mary more of a throne. That is St. Francis of Assisi and St. Adelheid, a medieval empress who grew in popularity in the early 1800s. We find this Madonna extremely warm and beautiful.

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.

- Acid-free paper
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
