This quote comes from the Canticle of the Sun, a religious song written by Saint Francis of Assisi in 1224.

"Be praised, my Lord, through all Your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun,

Francis is known for his love of animals and the natural world. He is often portrayed with birds. The art is by Sue Kouma Johnson, and depicts a popular story of Saint Francis where he preached to a flock of birds.
