Julian of Norwich is recognized as a saint and beloved by Catholics and Anglicans alike. Hermits of her time often lived in little cells attached to a church, so they could participate in the Holy Mass, and also live in seclusion and penance. Men and women who practiced this lifestyle often had a cat to help control the rodent population. And thus, St Julian is often shown with a cat at her side.

Julian had visions, which she called "showings," and wrote what she learned of Christ from them. While her writings were carefully preserved, the Reformation prevented their publication in print. The Long Text was first published in 1670 by a Benedictine monk. She has recently gained popularity for these writings, and is often quoted as saying, "all shall be well; all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well." Words of Jesus to her in her vision.

Her feast day is celebrated on May 13th.

The original painting was done on paper with acrylics in a small format of about 4 by 5 inches. It has been sold.

This intriguing, devotional medal is made with two tiny prints of the same image, back to back. The glass is hand cut and soldered with lead-free solder. Part of the charm of handmade items is the slight variation from piece to piece. These are not made in a factory!

Enjoy this medal on a chain, ribbon, or bracelet. If you would like it on a handsome silver snake chain, please select that option.

The same image is on both sides. The medal shown is size medium, but they also come in small, large and extra large size. The sizes are approximate, and may vary slightly with the image chosen.

Choose with or without a silver-plated snake chain. The chains come in 18", 22", and 26".

All my soldered medals are made with lead free solder and glass. The same picture is on both sides!

If you put the charm/medal on a key chain, it may get broken if not treated kindly. It is glass. If you want one for a key chain, I can custom make your medium charm/medal with a thicker glass for $3. Small charm/medals don't need thicker glass, but either way, they need to be on a chain before you add them to your key ring.
