Mary Magdalene stands at the empty tomb, bereft. Her dear friend and teacher, Jesus, has been killed, and she thinks they have even taken away the body. Little does she know that he is with her, always, and that soon she will know joy.
We thought this was a good image for all of us in those times when we are downcast. We thought it could also be a good card to send to a friend when they are in a difficult period.
It is good to be reminded that Jesus is ever faithful. He said he would not leave us, even until the end of time, and he cannot lie. (Matthew 28:20, and numerous other places)
Harold Copping (1863-1932) did a lot of Christian-themed art in the 19th and early 20th Century, and we think this is one of his best pieces.
