The Memorare is one of the great Catholic prayers. It dates back to the 1400s and was part of a larger prayer in Latin, "Ad sanctitatis tuae pedes, dulcissima Virgo Maria."
In 2012, writer William FitzGerald said in his book, Spiritual Modalities (p 107) "Calling on Mary to 'remember' is an act of boldness, but it is boldness justified by tradition....Mary needs no reminder of her role in the realm of salvation. However, those who call upon her do require such reminders (if not specifically, then more generally) to remind them of their place as supplicants before the Virgin Mary."
When asked, Mary will always help. "Never was it known" that she did not. That doesn't mean we'll necessarily get what we want, but she will help attain what is best at that moment. We personally have had many things turn out right that could have gone badly wrong.
The picture on the front is "Madonna della Misericordia." It was done by Bartolomeo Caporali in Italy in 1482, about the time as the Memorare was written. It contains people of several skin colors, as befits the Universal Church. (We apologize in advance for any remaining visual typos.)
We have a nice art print of this picture here on Etsy at www.etsy.com/listing/1721039669/new-mother-of-mercy-madonna-della.
