This angel is rendered with ethereal beauty and carries symbolic significance. The incense burner (thurible) represents the prayers of the faithful ascending to heaven. One of the works for angels is to carry prayers of the faithful to God. As St. Augustine reminds us, “’Angel' is the name of their office, not of their nature."

The candle represents the light of Christ, as it does in a church. So, your angel, who is a being of heavenly beauty, will help you with your faith and carry your prayers to Heaven. That’s what this picture helps you keep in mind, besides looking beautiful on your wall and adding a spiritual air to the room.

Carl Timoleon von Neff (1804-1877) was an Estonian painter. He later became a member of the German-speaking ruling class. He graduated from Academy of Arts in Dresden in 1825 and spent time in Italy, Estonia and St. Petersburg, where he painted portraits of the daughters of emperor Nicholas I.

He changed his name in 1844 to Timofey Andreyevich Neff as he became the painter of the emperor's court and a close advisor to Nicholas regarding the arts. He was a member of the Russian Imperial Academy of Arts. He did some of the painting on the iconostasis for St. Isaac’s cathedral in St. Petersburg. (source: archive.ph)

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.

There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.

We make Archival Quality fine art prints:

– Acid-free paper

– Archival pigments

– Cardboard backer for sizes 11x14 and less.

– Above story of the art

– Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal-clear bag.

– Rated to last 200+ years without fading if kept dry and out of the direct sun.

Thanks for your interest!
