Ecce Agnus Dei – Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. This beautiful, dignified artwork, based on a vintage German holy card, shows the grapevine and the wheat, which has been transubstantiated on the alter into the Eucharist, the Lamb of God. Above the chalice is the wafer, with JHS on it, which stands for Jesus Hominum Salvator (Latin: Jesus Savior of Mankind).

Above that we have the larger circle, signifying the Eucharist wafer in its Heavenly form, made of the Cross inside the circle, which surrounds everything and is the shape of eternity. Jesus is the lamb who was slain, and the banner over his shoulder is for His triumph and cause. He stands on clouds so His feet don't touch the ground, as Heaven is separate from the Earth; this is like in Mass when they put the platan under your chin to keep the Host off the floor. Sacraments are directly from Heaven to you.

At the top of the circle is the Chi Rho, the letters X and P, which in Greek are the first two letters of Christ’s name (χριστός). This was what Constantine put on the shields of his soldiers, as he had been inspired in a vision to do, which led to his victory in the struggle for control of the Roman Empire. The Chi Rho signifies Christ’s ultimate victory over sin and death.

We made some restored holy cards of this image, paired with a Spiritual Communion prayer, thanks be to God!

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.

There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.

We make Archival Quality fine art prints:

– Acid-free paper

– Archival pigments

– Cardboard backer for sizes 11x14 and less.

– Above story of the art

– Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal-clear bag.

– Rated to last 200+ years without fading if kept dry and out of the direct sun.

Thanks for your interest!
