We include this in our shop because it is lovely. It blesses the Lord in thanksgiving to Him! However, I should warn you, while it is Catholic, in the spirit of holy Catholics, and could have been written by Francis of Assisi, it was written by Sir Walter Scott. It was an Illuminated manuscript to illustrate his book The Talisman. It was in the 1830 edition put out by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, a London bookmaker still in existence. A Catholic blogger who goes by the name Tribunus makes an interesting case for Scott's near-Catholicism. Scott married a French Catholic aristocrat in 1797, Mlle Margaret Charlotte Charpentier, who escaped the Revolution. Scott was an elder in the Episcopal Church, but much of the work that brought him fame was set in the Middle Ages, a Catholic time. He dreamed of the romance of chivalry and the ages of faith, and wrote of devout, God-fearing, Catholic heroes.

Tribunus goes on to say, "Nevertheless, although he tries to conceal it with the usual Georgian and Victorian prejudices against the Catholic Church, there is a constant, latent hint of sympathy and sneaking admiration for the towering strength and majesty of the Catholic Church and the fierce loyalty and courage it inspires in the best of its members. Once can feel Scott secretly admiring this. There is even a palpable but hidden yearning for it throughout all his novels and poems, albeit well-concealed."

I thought all that was interesting, and he goes on at some length about it. I include it because this is a beautiful prayer, and I didn't know if I had to make any defense of it beyond its holy beauty. We're doing all this for you and for Jesus! Truly! The Catholic Church is the holy church of God, and all others are in further orbits from the One who made Heaven and Earth. May your soul, and the souls of all who see it, benefit from this holy prayer!

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.

There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.

We make Archival Quality fine art prints:

– Acid-free paper

– Archival pigments

– Cardboard backer for sizes 11x14 and less.

– Above story of the art

– Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal-clear bag.

– Rated to last 200+ years without fading if kept dry and out of the direct sun.

Thanks for your interest!
