New! Christmas Nativity – Turgis – Christmas Holy Card #27 – pack of 10/100/1000 – Vintage Holy Card #

This nativity is from Louis Turgis (France, mid-1800s), one of the biggest holy card publishers of the 19th Century. We’ve had our eye on this card for a long time, and finally had the free time to restore it. (The iterations of it we had were pretty messed up.)

Jesus is in the manger; an ox and ass are looking on. We love that ink-heavy chromolithograph look, and Turgis's artists always went a step beyond most everyone else. On the back, we found this excellent prayer at the US Bishops' website for blessing nativity scenes. Blessings like that can pass on to the people looking at the nativity, so this can be a nice part of the ritual if you set one up annually like my mom did and Sue often does. (source: USCCB.com)
