In the French Alps, in an area called La Salette, in the middle of the 19th Century, on a very sunny afternoon around 3:00, two little shepherd children came across a beautiful lady. She was in a blazing light, sitting on a root, wearing glorious clothing. She had her face in her hands. She was weeping.
The date was September 19, 1846. The children were Maximin Giraud, 11, and Mélanie Calvat, 15. She lady said she was weeping because of the sins of the people. Especially two sins: working on Sundays and swearing blasphemously using the name of her son.
We've put a brief description of what Mary said to the children on the back of the card to help all of us who ponder it become more mindful of our sins and, hopefully, better guided to avoid the near occasion.
