Flag of the Sacred Heart. Red Burgundy. This is an actual flag, not our art print in paper. It's made of sturdy polyester, one ply, hemmed, with grommets. Suitable for outdoor use or beautiful indoors to drape on a wall or door. It's a a good quality flag.
As I was taking these pictures with Sue and Genevieve, a teenage boy with two friends came up and asked me about the flag. "Sure looks pretty," he said. I got a chance to plant a seed! I told him the Sacred Heart is the interior life of Jesus--his thoughts, feelings, emotions, will --and that the Catholic Church teaches that Jesus invites us to share his interior life with him. "Which is a big deal!" I said.
Specs:
Silver-coated 100 gram 80d polyester.
Pole not included.
Image on both sides.
This is a modified version of the Carilon Flag, the blue French flag of the Sacred Heart, a Catholic flag dating back to the 1600s. It was used by French Canadians in Quebec, and gets its name for being their standard in the 1758 Battle of Carillon, in which they decisively defeated an overwhelmingly superior British force.
The fleurs-de-lis in the corners are an old French symbol representing the Trinity; and the large white cross, sort of invisible as a design element separating the red fields, is at root of course the Cross of Christ. The white cross on a blue field was the original design of the French merchant flag, which this flag is based on.
This flag is a beautiful Catholic symbol. It looks good on walls, but it also serves as something of a Catholic rallying point, a reminder that we are workers in the cause of Christ, who has our highest allegiance. To be sure, the enemy is Satan, not other people, genders, political parties, or race.
A note on the flag's production. So many people asked us for the cloth flag, or thought the art print was the cloth flag, that we went into the flag business. We developed the graphic art ourselves, and tried three different flag makers before we found a good quality flag. It went well. People liked it. Another innovation of our shop to bring something new to you.
Peace be with you. Thanks for your interest in our Catholic art. Our mission is to strengthen the faithful and evangelize with beauty.
Thanks!

FLAG CARE TIPS:
How to get creases out of your flag:
1. Gently wash your flag in cold water, using a minimal amount of detergent.
2. Hang dry it on a taut line, or dry it on an absorbent cotton towel, placed on a flat surface.
3. Steam iron your flag or take it to a laundry or cleaner's to have them press it.
4. They will relax over time of you just want to wait them out.
