New! Maltese Cross Medal - Catholic Pendants and Charms

The Maltese Cross was worn by the Knights Hospitaller during the Crusades. After several centuries in the Holy Land, they retreated to Rhodes and then to the island of Malta; hence the name Maltese.

The 8 points of the cross represent the 8 Beatitudes. It was worn for protection of fire-based weapons, which is why it is still used by firefighters today.

The sizes are small (5/8" wide), medium (3/4" wide), large (1" wide), and extra large (1 1/2") wide, which we now sell in a different listing as an ornament. With or without chains.
