Going out to you TradCats out there, this Salve Regina has the prayer on the back in Latin! The art is from the Benedictine monks from Beuron, Germany, circa 1900. It is a more rigorous Catholic art than the lovely but looser French art for our English version of the Hail Holy Queen holy card we offer.
The Salve Regina / Hail Holy Queen prayer is one of the most important Marian prayers in the Church. It is the most famous of the four Marian liturgical antiphons, which are ancient, hymn-like chants in the Catholic Church. The four are: Alma Redemptoris Mater, Ave Regina Caelorum, Regina Coeli, and Salve Regina.
These prayers are often sung at night (at the end of Compline, just at bedtime). Sue likes to sing Salve Regina in Latin, and one of the reasons I made this card is so I could get those Latin words into my head and sing along with her. Up until now, my brain has had a force field around it, which the Latin just bounces off of. Good Lord willing, this will help.
