“Worship him that made ... Heaven and Earth” is our first purely visual meditation card, with the second picture on the back completing the quote. We hope that meditating on it will lift your mind to the presence of our Lord, maker of all and the constant companion of our souls.

We love art like this from that period. This gorgeous art is by Clayton & Bell, a Victorian church decorating company. They did it circa 1865 at St. Michael’s Church in Yorkshire, England. It is part of a series of beautiful pictures illuminating verses from the Bible. This one is directly from Revelations 14:7.

I quote the passage here and thank the Bishops of America for their providing this translation of the Bible online at their usccb.org site. The angel is tying worship into the good news of our salvation.

Revelation 14:

6 Then I saw another angel flying high overhead, with everlasting good news* to announce to those who dwell on earth, to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people.

7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, for his time has come to sit in judgment. Worship him who made heaven and earth and sea and springs of water.”
