Like all mothers, Mary would have given a lot of counsel to her young son Jesus. Would she, the highest example of the human race, give bad counsel? No, she is Our Lady of Good Counsel. She will counsel us, too. Her Feast Day is April 26.

We love the tenderness expressed in this picture, and we love the colors. It is the work of Fr. Pasquale Sarullo, a 19th-century Franciscan priest who was well known for his paintings at the time but not much anymore, with the exception of this gorgeous masterpiece. It in turn is based on a venerated fresco from the 15th Century that had many miracles associated with it.
