Saint Joan of Arc is beloved by many! She was a French shepherd girl when she first heard heavenly voices. The three saints who spoke to her told her she was to lead France into victory over England and restore Charles to his throne. She had many successes in battle but was taken captive by the English and sentenced to be burned at the stake as a witch. As she burned, the witnesses wept, for they knew she was a pure and holy saint. Some years later, her name was cleared and she was declared a saint of the Catholic Church in 1922. She is patron saint of soldiers.

I painted the original with acrylic paints on a 12 x 12 inch canvas (and is available to buy), and the image is copyrighted by me, Sue Kouma Johnson, and may not be reproduced in any way without my permission. The image has been cropped a little to make it horizontal for standard sized frames. This print looks perfect in a brown wood frame.

This image is also available as a handmade medal or a sticker. Find it in our shop by searching "Joan".

Thank you!
Sue

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.

There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.
