Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish Knight, who, while convalescing from battle wounds, dedicated his life to Christ. Studious and scholarly, he founded the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and wrote the Spiritual Exercises about discerning God's will and making retreats, which is still very much in use today.
