John Vianney Ornament
John Vianney Ornament
This is our hand made ornament of St John Vianney, the Cure de Ars, famous 19th Century pastor and confessor in France. Saint John was not an intellectually gifted man, and had trouble with seminary studies.
Upon ordination, he was sent to pastor a dinky village called
Ars, where the Catholic faith was all but forgotten; morals were decaying. He started preaching to the few who would show up for Mass, and soon, multitudes were descending upon Ars to hear his preaching, repent, and confess their sins.
John was known to live on very little food, and spent as many as eighteen hours a day in the confessional. He had great devotion to the newly canonized St Philomena, was under constant attack by the devil, and faithfully fulfilled his call as a priest to the end. His feast day is , and he is the patron saint of parish priests.
Sue Kouma Johnson painted the original image 8 x 10" with acrylics on canvas. He is wearing the traditional priestly vestments that would have been used by French priests hearing confessions.
The same image is on both sides.
All of our pendants and ornaments are made with lead free solder and glass. Great on a chain or bracelet. We offer a ball chain elsewhere in our shop.
If you put the charm/medal on a key chain, it may get broken if not treated kindly. It is glass. If you want one for a key chain, we can custom make your medium charm/medal with a thicker glass for $3. Small charm/medals don't need thicker glass, but either way, they need to be on a chain before you add them to your key ring.
