Stella Maris, or Star of the Sea, one of the most beautiful names of Mary. Originally used by sailors, it has come to be used by anyone who wants her guidance in navigating the difficulties of this life. Her Feast Day is September 27.
The prayer on the back is by Venantius Honorius Fortunatus (530-609), a late Roman who did the Easter hymn, “Sing my Tongue,” which we still sing on Good Friday.
This card was originally from Argentina, our only card so far from there. It was printed by a huge multi-industrial company. It is a good card for anyone who would like help navigating their way, which is all of us, if we're spiritually aware.
