The Assumption of Mary was declared dogma by the Church in 1950 by Pope Pius XII, but Catholics had believed it for many centuries, even millennia, before then. In the early centuries of the Church, they called it the Dormition of Mary, but around 700 AD they began to call it The Assumpion. Mary was drawn up into Heaven, body and soul.
Not long after he Assumption was declared dogma, Pope Paul VI wrote the prayer we have on the back. We've condesned it a little to it could fit. It's a lovely prayer about being closer to Mary, and good for anyone who wishes that.
